News, Resources, Opportunities, and Possibilities for Black and Brown women working in tech

A safe space for Black women in tech to flourish and live life in full bloom

Welcome To Friday! 📆

I missed you last week while I was going through my latest evolution at the Woman Evolve conference in Dallas!

I’m still struggling to put my experience into words, but I have been doing tiny recaps on my Instagram. Yes, the conference was that good!

The conference was very much exactly what I needed! An awakening, a revival, a fresh perspective, and a renewed fire for my purpose. I was of course already walking in purpose before the conference, but now I’m focused on intentional execution. I’m focused on what I can give, what’s realistic and right for my life in this season, and most importantly where I feel aligned.

The experience was that good and left zero crumbs. I’ll be at Woman Evolve 2024 for sure!

On to today’s chat…..

Have you ever thought about the power of surrender? It’s a life strategy that’s really been on my mind lately. I know, I know. I’m always talking about best self, and living life in full bloom, and all of the striving and thriving things.

But sometimes you just need to throw in the towel and surrender in the moment.

Yes, you heard me right. Surrendering can be one of the most empowering and transformative things you can do on your journey through life.

As Black women, we know a thing or two about resilience and strength, but let's take a two-step towards the soft life, exploring how embracing change, failure, and the journey itself can be a game-changer. I'm talking about surrounding to the unknowns, newness, fear, pivots, failure, ease, suffering, or anything else life's journey involves.

Embrace the Pivot

Life loves to throw us curveballs, doesn't it? But guess what? Sometimes those curveballs are blessings in disguise. I've learned that embracing change is like dancing to the rhythm of life(two-step wit it!) – it keeps things interesting! It keeps us evolving, easily embracing new ideas, voices, and perspectives. Each pivot brings you closer to growth, new opportunities, and unexpected possibilities.

So, when life hands you a pivot, don't resist it. Flow with it!

Embrace it with open arms and a heart full of curiosity. Who knows what amazing things are waiting for you just around that pivot?

Failure: A Stepping Stone to Success

Failure – it's a word that often carries a heavy weight, but it shouldn't. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Failure is just a little pit stop, a little flat tire on the road to success. Remember that.

I'm sure we've all faced a ton of challenges and setbacks. But each one was a valuable lesson. Instead of dwelling on failure, I turned it into fuel for my journey. It's like using setbacks as stepping stones to reach greater heights.

So, the next time you stumble, don't fall, and don't be afraid to start over. Failure isn't the end; it's just another chapter in your story. Sometimes surrendering is the opportunity for much-needed new beginnings

Celebrate the Journey

Life is a journey, not a destination. Cliché, right? But it's true! As Black women, we are often burdened, weighed down, and even haunted by the ongoing mission to achieve our goals, break barriers, and shattering ceilings. I get it because I'm on the mission too. Often enough, I'm balancing achieving with rest and restoration. Surrendering to pause and choosing peace or nothingness is just as important.

And while all those things are important, it's equally crucial to celebrate the journey itself.

Take a moment to reflect on how far you've come. Celebrate the small victories, the late nights, and the moments of self-discovery.

Find joy in the process, the growth, and the lessons learned along the way. Your journey is unique, beautiful, and worthy of celebration. You are a masterpiece in progress, and every chapter of your life adds to your story's brilliance.

So that's my little masterclass on the power of surrender. Cheers to the pivots, failures, and journey of your life not as a sign of weakness; but as an affirmation of your strength.

This weekend go ahead and surrender in the moment. Surrender to whatever this space and time in your life needs. Don't forget to celebrate every moment of your extraordinary journey. You've got this!

Cheers to the weekend!

XoXo,

Jeneba
