News, Resources, Opportunities, and Possibilities for Black and Brown women working in tech

A safe space for Black women in tech to flourish and live life in full bloom

Welcome To Friday! πŸ“†

We’re fifteen episodes in and I’m overjoyed.

That’s fifteen times I kept my promises to myself and proved to myself that I could be consistent and keep going in spite of life. Sis, that’s fifteen times I put myself out there, shared my thoughts, and shared my heart not knowing if it was going to be received.

πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

I’m proud of myself and I love that for me πŸ’žπŸ’ž Lately, I've been thinking deeply about the importance of keeping your promises to yourself. Let that sink in! Doing what you said you were going to and following up with you.

In a world filled with constant distractions and never-ending to-do lists, it's easy to lose sight of the promises we make to ourselves.

Especially in the silent promises to ourselves. I would say these are probably the most important promises we make. It's always the quiet ones, right?

Pinky Promises

We promise to chase our dreams, prioritize our self-care, or leave that toxic job, and the list goes on and on. The promises we make to ourselves are not to be taken lightly and skipped over. They create the blueprint for your life's path. They represent the dreams that linger in our hearts, waiting to be realized, and the aspirations that keep us going, even when we don't know where life is taking us.

How often do you make these big plans for self-improvement, only to let them fall by the wayside when life starts life-ing? We've all been there - we tell ourselves we'll start sticking to our workouts, learn a new skill, break a bad habit. But then the busyness of life takes over, and we find excuses to put it off another day. Before we know it, we've broken the promise we made to ourselves again.

The struggle! But it doesn't have to be this hard. Keeping promises to yourself is the beginning of growth, resilience, confidence, and fulfillment. When you honor commitments, even the little, small ones, you build self-trust and self-belief. These are the keys sis! With each promise kept, you become more powerful, more motivated, and empowered to keep the next one. Progress builds momentum, empowering you to make positive changes in your life. This is where the magic happens.

This level of self-trust is the foundation for success. ✨✨

Each small promise strengthens our inner self-belief, reminding us that we are more than capable of achieving our goals and living our dreams.

So how do you follow through? Be realistic - start small. Remember small wins matter!

πŸ’ŽOutline specific, measurable steps instead of vague aspirations.

πŸ’ŽHold yourself accountable by sharing goals with trusted friends or family.

πŸ’ŽCelebrate small wins, and be patient with setbacks.

πŸ’ŽRemind yourself regularly why this commitment matters.

Consider how much your future self will thank you when you prioritize your commitments to yourself. Confidence breeds more confidence and will always spill over into other areas in your life. Actualize and see yourself meeting your career goals, and chasing your dreams with unwavering determination.

Today, I challenge you to reflect on the last promises you've made to yourself and commit to taking the next steps toward fulfilling them. Self-commitment will always be the keys to unlocking our true potential and designing a life filled with purpose, passion, and boundless possibilities.

Try this out and let me know how it helps, one self-commitment at a time.

Cheers to the weekend!

XoXo,

Jeneba
