A safe space for Black women in tech to flourish and live life in full bloom

Welcome To Friday! 📆

I’m a firm believer in personal development. I mean at this point investing in my own growth and development is a hobby and something I can’t live without.

I love information and knowledge. As a little girl, I was avid reader and young Jeneba would be so proud to see that I’m still reading and maintaining a passion for collecting knowledge and information.

Last weekend, I missed Afrotech because I choose to invest in myself and attend a conference in Atlanta called Speak Your Way To Cash, to learn more about the actions, strategies, and systems I need to put in place to build my speaking business and increase my revenue in that part of my business.

Tap in if you agree, but I never lost betting on myself! Investing in myself has always given me the highest return on investment, top tier ROI!

The most successful people have a budget for continuous learning and personal development and they always make it a top priority throughout their careers.

Don't wait for your job to pay for you to learn and grow. That's how they keep you stuck.

I usually budget this into my salary negotiations. I'll add $10,000 or so dollars onto my ask to have extra coins to invest in myself. That can be anything from hiring a coach or payiny for myself to learn a new skill.

Trust me your coach has a coach!

Investing time and resources into building your skills, knowledge, and network provides invaluable returns. Let me share three key reasons you should invest in your professional growth:

💅🏾Stay Relevant and Competitive - Things are changing faster than ever and if you want to stay competitive than you have to keep up. Trends, technologies, and ways of working are evolving constantly. Without intentionally developing yourself, your skills, and perspectives can quickly become outdated. Investing in learning helps you stay current in your field and evolve along with it. This ensures you remain a competitive, sought-after talent. Let them come to you sis!

💅🏾Boost Your Earning Potential - Developing new capabilities and expertise directly correlates with ability to collect a bigger. Employers like to reward people who bring the most soft skills, technical abilities, leadership skills, creativity and strategic mindsets to the table. Investing in your personal brand always pays off in terms of larger salaries, bonuses and more freedom to find new opportunities and create more possibilities for yourself.

💅🏾Get Fulfillment- Lifelong learning isn't just about getting ahead. Most people find the very act of growing to be deeply rewarding. Picking up new technical skills and knowledge domains expands your perspective. Bringing more value to your work and overcoming challenges provides meaning and enjoyment. Investing in yourself pays dividends for your mind, body and soul.

Continuously investing in yourself helps ensure you don't stagnate, but instead keep shinning brighter, be more marketable and engaged throughout your career journey. Make learning a habit, not a one-off event. Your future self with thank you.

Cheers to the weekend loves!

XOXO,

Jeneba
