The Bloom Report Vol 25 [Bloomology] ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน

News, Resources, Opportunities, and Possibilities for Black and Brown women working in tech

A safe space for Black women in tech to flourish and live life in full bloom

Welcome To Friday! ๐Ÿ“†

Wishing You A Merry Christmas And Happy New Year!

This is going to be my last issue for the year.

Bloomology is hitting that OOO until the second week of January.

I donโ€™t play about my end-of-year sabbatical.

I usually take the week of Christmas and the week after off to rest, reflect, and regroup.

If I can, Iโ€™ll get some traveling in and some pampering in a spa day or at least of facial.

One thingโ€™s for sure, Iโ€™m not going to goal set or think about the new year or plan for the new year. Last year, I started a practice of waiting to do any goal-setting, planning, or vision-setting ( vision boards and future planning).

I like to take all of December and just sit with the previous and the present at the end of the year. Itโ€™s one of my favorite times of the year because I get to slow down and just be.

  • Think about all that I did

  • Things I wanted to do and didnโ€™t do ( and why not?)

  • Think about the memories and dope experiences

  • Reflect on my highs and lows

  • Sit in gratitude for the grace and everything that I was blessed with

And most importantly think about my growth as a woman, wife, mother, brand, business owner, and friend.

Just even thinking about all the hats I wear and the masks I wear full-time and part-time makes me feel powerful ( and a little anxious, Iโ€™m not gone hold you) and accomplished. I have so many proud moments and memories that make me smile from 2023.

I didnโ€™t feel like doing more than journaling my thoughts and reflections in my Reflections journal app, but next year I want to start a formal End-of-year review ritual.

Hereโ€™s a little gift guide for you to give yourself the gift of self-reflection if you want to do your own End-of-year review.

๐Ÿ’Ž Review the year month-by-month - Run through each month mentally, going through major moments both good and bad. Jot down some notes about key things that happened professionally and personally in each month. Seeing the progression of the year chronologically gives you a whole new perspective.

๐Ÿ’ŽGo through your calendar and photos- Scroll back through your calendar to jog your memory about important events, milestones, and other highlights. Look back at photos from throughout the year for a visual account that can prompt powerful memories. You can even make your own memory mood board.

๐Ÿ’Ž Make some lists - Make numbered lists breaking down your proudest accomplishments, favorite memories, opportunities you didn't take advantage of, places you visited or want to visit, new relationships, and goals achieved. Seeing comprehensive lists on paper sparks self-awareness.

๐Ÿ’Ž List top takeaways and key reflections- What were your big lessons? How did you grow emotionally and intellectually? Outline 3-5 key reflections and positive takeaways from your year. Consider how these might shape your priorities and focus going forward.

๐Ÿ’Ž Redefine your values. Redefine whatโ€™s important to you and what you value. Also, note whatโ€™s not important to you anymore. Review your values and determine if how you spent your time and energy is aligned with what matters most. If not, how can you adjust your focus to live more purposefully and intentionally?

Also, I wanted to share some apps you can use to do your End-Of-Year self-reflection

๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ป Reflecty ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ป Evernote ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ป Journey ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ปBuddify ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€๐Ÿ’ปThe Five Minute Journal ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿพโ€Reflection.App

Cheers to the weekend love!
