The Bloom Report Vol 8 [Bloomology]
News, Resources, Opportunities, and Possibilities for Black and Brown women working in tech
A safe space for Black women in tech to flourish and live life in full bloom
Welcome To Friday!
I saw a post on LinkedIn this week that went viral. A Black women said “ Black women deserve luxury without being asked to explain why they deserve it”. In a world that tries to give us the crumbs and water us down, I’m shouting from the cheap seats on this one. I couldn’t agree more. Being a Black women in and of itself is a luxury experience!
So, don’t feel like you have to explain your life’s luxuries. You don’t have to explain it, feel bad or guilty about it, and you definitely don’t need to ask yourself if you deserve luxury when you desire it. Let’s pinky promise to stop doing that today friend!
I’ve recently been normalizing luxuries in my everyday life. If you follow me on Instagram than you know I post using the hashtag #littleluxurieseverywhere to normalize bringing luxury into your life everyday. I feel like this is a personal responsibility to myself, my daughters, and to Black women. I love seeing what luxury means to other Black women and having luxurious conversations with other Black women. I hate Facebook, but joined the Black Girl Luxury group there just so I could scroll a feed filled with Black women exploring and indulging in luxury. Hands down, my favorite place for melanted luxury inspo is Pinterest. The visuals just give what it’s supposed to give. Opulence!
Whenever I see a Black women living her best life and being the best version of herself at work, in the gym, at brunch, or on the red carpet, I say now that’s luxury.
Luxury looks good on Black women and the definition of luxury is different for every Black woman.
For me luxury is freedom and options and having an abundance of choices! Luxury is also agency and ownership.
Luxury is also not having to always check the price before you check out. I want what I want AND can have it freely and without worry, but instead with us. I love that for me. I love that for us! Choose luxury girl!
What do you consider luxury and how do you bring luxury into your everyday life? Are you tapped into the #luxurybrowngirl algorithm. Send me a DM and lets talk luxury!
Have a good weekend friends!
