A safe space for Black women in tech to flourish and live life in full bloom

Welcome to Friday! ๐Ÿ“†

This is a reminder for you to take some time offโ€ฆ

Today Iโ€™m writing to you from the city of love! Tasting the Parisian vibes, and taking some time off from my day-to-day. A much-needed break and reset.

So, instead of forcing myself to write this issue, I thought about taking a brain break and some much-needed time off. And this is a reminder for you to do the same.

Do something different this weekend, take care of yourself, and allow the J.O.M.O (joy of missing out) to fill your day!

And why not a quick time travel with me? I decided to make a recap of our best issues from The Bloom Report. Ready to make this quick trip to the past and review some of our best issues?

Donโ€™t feel guilty to take some time off from work to renew your energy. You owe you! Here are some reasons why:

  • Itโ€™s one of the top ways to unplug and have a life reset

  • Itโ€™s been known to increase creativity and productivity

  • Itโ€™s one of the best ways to reconnect with yourself

  • And itโ€™s one of the best ways to stick to your personal boundaries and core values

A big myth sis! This movement was telling women to put their heads down and grind out.

But it ignores systemic blockers and challenges and impacts the day-to-day lives of black women.

This leads us to The Black Womenโ€™s Superhero Syndrome or S.B.W. (Strong Black Women). The syndrome acts as a liability and an asset in the white workplace, most times leading to anxiety, extreme stress, depression, weight loss, and sometimes permanent damage to physical, psychological, mental, and emotional health.

This is generational trauma and a survival mode tactic. Operating from a place of โ€œbeing twice as good to be good enoughโ€ or living in burnout culture and โ€œhustle modeโ€ as the only way to so-called make it.

Here is what you can do to embrace self-care and rest in the workplace to combat Girl Boss Behavior or S.B.W:

โœจCreate a daily self-care routine and practices that support your well-being

โœจHumanize yourself at work - this means stop apologizing for everything and when you mess up just own it and move on. Be a little more vulnerable without fearing being fired. Say no and stick to your boundaries.

โœจStop rationalizing toxic behaviors and irrational behaviors at work. Donโ€™t justify mistreatment and disrespect. Protect your peace and advocate for yourself.

โœจ Be where you are respected and celebrated and not tolerated.

We donโ€™t need to just survive work experience, we need to thrive. Itโ€™s about reclaiming rest, joy, and peace and nurturing yourself ( whatever that may look like for you).

I know that you loved this one and it is so special because I talked about my branding philosophy.

Here is what I said on repeatโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.

The Jordan Aesthetic represents what it means to strive for the highest echelon. It's all about chasing greatness with passion, creativity, and refusal to crack under pressure. It's about unlocking capacities people didn't even know were possible for you. .It reminds me that just because they ( the public, yall know they from the comments) have never seen something, never heard of something, or it's never been done before doesn't mean that it canโ€™t be done by me ( or by you sis).

Let me ask you this sis:

  • How are you embracing the 23 mentality in your career?

  • How are you showing up to yourself and your purpose?

Donโ€™t lose your gifts, because they are unique and special to this world. Instead, channel the 23 aesthetic into your career, passion, and into everything you do. Itโ€™s all about expanding our mindset and setting ourselves up for success, and growth. Sometimes it means that we are going to work a little more and push a little harder, but if we visualize the end goal, if we visualize our success, it will pay off in the end.

Did you like this review? Iโ€™d like to know your favorite issue. And tell me, do you think we could turn this into a special Newsletter? Once in a while do a reviewโ€ฆtell me in the comments.
